The NATO Multinational Military Police Battalion began training on Lešť

In the military training area of the military district Lešť (VP VO), during days from 12 to 20 September 2011, members of the Multinational Military Police Battalion - (NATO MNMPBAT) are practicing under the name BLACK BEAR 2011.

During onset units on 13th September, was signed a document transfer of authority of national units which are under joint command during the exercise. On behalf of the Slovak side the document was signed by the Deputy Director of Military Police and exercise Commander Colonel Vit Gabrhel, on behalf of the Polish side by Colonel Jacek Kazimierski, on behalf of the Czech side by Colonel Pavel Fejfar and Lieutenant Colonel Tihomir Zebec behalf of Croatia. Captain Robert Vorih from the Croatia is the battalion commander of the Multinational military police during this year. Under his command of NATO Multinational military police battalion begun to perform main role of exercise: Align and practice individual capabilities of NATO MNMPBAT.

The multinational battalion (MNMPBAT) is composed of the national military police units. Those units can support the commanders on the tactical level through the implementation of police activities that are consistent with applicable law. This includes ensuring the safety of transports, areas, detention, investigation and other activities that are implemented across the entire spectrum of military operations.

In accordance with the Implementation Agreement the battalion can perform these basic types of tasks: operations under Art. 5 of the Washington Treaty (collective defense), including crisis management, peace support operations (Peace Support Operations = PSO), humanitarian aid, assistance during natural disasters and calamities, the evacuation of civilians, military assistance and support of civil structures.

During the exercise are practicing Military policemen equipped with tactical simulator MILES 2000. Due to this system have command and control group the possibility to follow exercises, control tactics and tasks of individual events. Within CIMIC operation - help and support of civil structures will be practicing the task of dealing with the evacuation of a primary school in the village Pliešovce. Throughout the exercise NATO Multinational battalion of military police (MNMPBAT) uses the premises of the Institute of Health and special training (ISHTC) MOD SR Lešť. Accommodation and meals under field conditions for participants of the exercise are allocated in the camp Slávia. The exercise takes place on special equipment of the ISHTC used to for training. The individual episodes are happening and practicing on the shooting - tactical simulators Jakub Building Gun High Rise, in the training colony Jakub Village and will be used ranges and facilities of the Institute of Health and special training.
