During Saturday the NATO Multinational Military Police Battalion /MNMPBAT/ members during the exercise Black Bear 2011 had to solve two important tasks in one time. The first task in morning hours was liberation of three captured coalition soldiers. Only apprehension of one suspect brought them on the right track in pursuing the kidnappers. According to information provided by suspect, kidnappers who have set unrealistic conditions - called for the departure of coalition forces, were located in a place, so called Little Moscow.

Therefore the battalion commands prepared liberate operation. Its implementation was not easy, because intervening battalion members met with unexpectedly strong resistance. Opponent cleverly used the natural of the environment in unexpected counter-attacks and booby-traps. The coalition soldiers sustained relatively heavy losses within their ranks. Intervening military policemen had to repeatedly attack the buildings, until the mission was accomplished. This situation had proven importance of cooperation between the various components of national units in the battalion.

In the afternoon the battalion members were assigned to a second important task - protecting and escorting a supply convoy. During the movement in forest terrain the convoy was attacked by a strong group of well-armed insurgents. The Polish, Slovak, Czech and Croatian soldiers have faced repeated attacks on different parts of the convoy. In a critical moment, when they were suffering appreciable losses had even to ask for an close air support in order to put the attackers to flight. Finally, they accomplished the task and convoy came safely to its final destination.
